Room with a view

We live in a Victorian terraced house, which probably started life as a two-up, two-down.  We think it was the first in a row of three and that subsequently the middle house was split up and shared with the house on either side. This makes for an unusual floor plan, and most of the rooms have a slightly quirky shape. The attic had already been converted in to a bedroom before we bought the house, but has always felt dark and dingy.

There is one Velux window, which looks out from the back of the house and is in a rather sorry state

Yesterday work began to add two Velux windows to the front and replace the manky, old one at the back with a special 'means of escape' window

The tiles are being removed today and new rafters are added to ensure the roof remains strong. The holes will then be cut through the ceiling. I can hardly wait to see our new view.
